The Accelerator is built for people starting from zero. Career changers, recent graduates, and anyone curious about the trades are welcome.
In four weeks, you'll go from learning tool names to wiring circuits, with instructors guiding you every step of the way.
Hands-On From Day One
More than half of your training happens in the lab, not the classroom.
You'll spend 88 hours bending conduit, installing boxes and raceways, and wiring real circuits in our 50,000 sq. ft. San Antonio facility, finishing with an individual commercial wiring practical.
Your Launch Point Into the Trade
The Accelerator prepares you for what comes next: an electrical apprenticeship or an entry-level electrical job.
You'll finish with the safety habits, foundational skills, and professional work ethic employers expect from a new apprentice, ready to start earning on-the-job hours toward your journeyman license.
Class schedule and start dates
The Accelerator runs full time, Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, at our San Antonio campus. Each class starts together and finishes together in about four weeks.

What is the Electrical Accelerator?
The Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship Accelerator is a 160-hour, full-time training program for people ready to take their first step into the electrical trade. Over four weeks, you'll learn electrical fundamentals, get real shop experience, and build the safety habits and work ethic you need to pursue a registered apprenticeship or an entry-level electrical job.
Training follows an NCCER curriculum, and Propel Career Academy has been an NCCER Accredited Training Sponsor since 2019. Students train in a fast-paced environment that mirrors the structure and intensity of the field.
What you will learn, week by week
Every day combines about four hours of classroom instruction with four hours in the lab, plus a daily jobsite safety topic.

- Basic safety and electrical safety
- Introduction to hand tools and power tools
- Construction math
Installation fundamentals
- Conduit hand bending
- Basic rigging
- Device boxes, wireways, raceways, and fittings
- Introduction to electrical circuits
Electrical theory and the NEC
- Electrical theory with a hands-on DC lab
- Conductors and cables
- Introduction to the National Electrical Code (NEC)
- Services, grounding, and bonding
Wiring and hands-on practicals
- Residential wiring and electrical test equipment
- Individual commercial wiring practical
- Group project
- Final skills challenge
Along the way you'll cover daily safety topics like PPE, ladder and fall safety, arc flash awareness, and jobsite hazard recognition, and you'll take NCCER module exams and skills assessments as you go. Instructors also hold office hours every Wednesday evening.

Where the Accelerator leads

Earn on-the-job hours toward your Texas journeyman electrician license.
The Accelerator is a launch point into electrical apprenticeship programs, entry-level electrical employment, and continued trade education and certifications.
In Texas, becoming a licensed journeyman electrician takes 8,000 hours of on-the-job training under a licensed Master Electrician, plus passing the state exam. The Accelerator gives you the foundation to start that path with confidence. Propel's apprenticeship program has been accredited by the U.S. Department of Labor Office of Apprenticeship and the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation since 2019.
Tuition and payment options
Tuition is $5,000, all inclusive. Your in-class electrical tool kit and PPE are included, so there are no surprise costs for gear.
